ABOUT CARL

CARL RYDQUIST [SWE/USA]

Residence: California, USA

Birthplace: Goteborg, Sweden

Edu: M.Sc. Mech. Engineering (CHALMERS)

Hobbies: Running, field hockey, gocarting, music, film

Carl's breakthrough came in 2001 when he in a spectacular display of raw driving talent beat 1100 amateur and professional racedrivers in the Eurosport Super Racing Weekend gocart challenge. Standing 6'3" tall with a 190 lbs frame Rydquist still advanced in every elimination heat by lapping quicker than a dozen of top European pro racedrivers, lightweight gocart aces and over 1000 other car enthusiasts and challengers, until he received a big trophy handed to him personally by Peter Dumbreck (DTM, Le Mans). Shortly after, Carl received an invite to test for a pro team and he earned his first championship ride (Apex Porsche). He won the GT class with the team that year. Since then Carl has raced 200+ hours in Porsche racecars.

Since 2004 Carl has frequently been hired to drive in car commercials and in 2010 he became a member of Performance Two stunt driving group and he got the coveted Screen Actors Guild membership as a SAG professional stunt driver.

Carl was an expert co-host on TV 02-04.

In 2008, Carl proposed to his girlfriend over the team radio while he was racing a Porsche 911 GT3 RS in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring. She said 'Yes'!
